Opportunity:
Nearly 17,000 people have moved into Point Cook since 2016, and the dental demand has followed them. A practice in the suburb is bringing on a dentist from December, with part time and full time applications both considered.
The caseload reflects who lives here. Almost a quarter of the local population is under 12, so children’s dentistry and preventive care feature heavily, alongside general and restorative treatment for their parents. More than half of residents speak another language other than English at home so there is real variety in the patients who come through the door and a genuine advantage for a clinician with a second language.
Household incomes in Point Cook sit well above the Victorian median, which changes the nature of the treatment planning conversation. Patients who need crown and bridge work, or who want to address something they have been putting off, are generally in a position to proceed, so you spend less time rebuilding a plan around what someone cannot afford.
Key Highlights:
- Part time or full time, both considered, with days set before you start
- Children’s and preventive dentistry alongside general and restorative work
- A multicultural patient base where a second language is an asset
- Treatment planning with patients who can act on your recommendations
- December start with a defined roster from your first week
About You:
You are a dentist with current AHPRA registration, comfortable across general,
restorative and children’s dentistry. You diagnose thoroughly, explain treatment and costs clearly, and build the kind of rapport that brings families back. You hold your own in a busy appointment book and take ownership of your patients from examination through to completed treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide general, restorative and children’s dentistry
- Examine, diagnose and plan treatment across all age groups
- Deliver fillings, extractions, crown and bridge and preventive care
- See emergency patients as they present
- Maintain accurate records and follow infection control standards
Location:
Point Cook is a young, quick growing suburb about 25km from the Melbourne CBD, and its population is forecast to reach 82,000 by 2040. Households have grown by a third since 2016, so the local patient base keeps expanding rather than holding steady. For the dentist living locally, Point Cook Coastal Park has wetlands, birdlife and walking trails along the bay, Sanctuary Lakes has the hotel and the lakeside cafes, and the Town Centre covers everything else.
