Casual Youth Worker – Gold Coast & Brisbane

NextGen Children and Youth Services works alongside the Queensland Department of Child Safety to support children, young people and families.

We’re looking for more casual Youth Workers to join the team.

About the role

You’ll work one-on-one with children, young people and families across:

- Supervised family contact visits

- Transporting children and young people to contact, school, appointments and activities

- In-home and community support

- Respite and short-term accommodation (STA) shifts

- Emergency accommodation support

- Writing clear, accurate case notes after every shift

Please read before applying – this role isn’t for everyone

- Things change at the last minute. Shifts can be added, moved or cancelled at short notice, sometimes on the day. You need to be flexible and able to roll with it.

- You must be happy to drive everywhere between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. You could be in Brisbane one day and on the Gold Coast the next, and often both in the same day. If you only want work close to home, this role won’t suit you.





- Shifts can include early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

What you’ll need

- A current Queensland blue card (or an application underway)

- Full driver’s licence and a reliable, registered and insured vehicle

- First Aid and CPR (or willing to get them)

- Experience working with children, young people or families in child safety, youth work, disability or a similar field
- A qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, or Child, Youth and Family Intervention is highly regarded

- Positive written skills for case notes and reports

- Calm, reliable and confident working on your own
