Experienced Mental Health Clinician (Psych/OT/SW/Counselling) - Bendigo
Relational Minds is a network of private child and family mental health clinics in Bendigo, Sunbury and Mildura, with telehealth reaching families across regional Australia. We work mainly through parents and carers, because in our experience they are the people best placed to create lasting change for a struggling child. Our work is guided by PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy), and we try to bring those same values to how we treat each other as a team.
This position is based in our Bendigo clinic, with some work supporting our Sunbury and Mildura teams.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, LGBTIQA+ communities and people with disability.
About the Role
Relational Minds is seeking an experienced child and family therapist to join our Bendigo clinic, working closely with our Therapeutic and Operations Lead. The role is part time (minimum two days per week) with scope to increase. Alongside your own caseload, you will help support newer clinicians in Bendigo and contribute to our Sunbury and Mildura teams, mostly by telehealth.
Most of our therapeutic work happens through parents and carers. Many families come to us worn down by school refusal, explosive behaviour or the effects of early trauma, after the usual strategies have stopped working. You will be comfortable in those conversations, able to help parents understand what sits underneath their child's behaviour, and skilled at supporting them to stay steady and connected while change takes hold.
What You'll Be Doing
Working therapeutically with parents and carers as the main focus of treatment, using our relational framework grounded in DDP and PACE
Assessing children and adolescents presenting with anxiety, depression, trauma-related difficulties, emotional dysregulation, ADHD and ASD, and developing treatment plans with families
Providing dyadic, family and individual therapy where it strengthens the parent work
Contributing to multidisciplinary case review, including input into treatment plans following families' initial appointments
Supporting and mentoring less experienced clinicians through case consultation and shared work
Liaising with schools, GPs, child protection and out-of-home care teams
Documenting assessments, progress notes and reports in line with clinical and legal requirements
What We’re Looking For
At least three years of post-qualification experience in child and adolescent mental health
Substantial experience working therapeutically with parents, carers and whole families, in addition to individual work with children
Experience mentoring, supervising or supporting less experienced clinicians
Confidence working with trauma, neurodevelopmental presentations and complex family systems
Training in DDP or another attachment-based model (desirable)
Experience with children in out-of-home care and their carers (desirable)
Comfort working across sites and by telehealth
Qualification in psychology, social work, mental health nursing, occupational therapy, or counselling and psychotherapy
Registration with AHPRA, AASW, ACA or PACFA, or other relevant body and professional indemnity insurance
Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and current police check
What We Offer
At Relational Minds, we are dedicated to supporting the wellbeing and skilled growth of our clinicians. In this role, you will benefit from:
Flexible part-time work arrangements (Minimum 2 days per week)
Flexibility is offered to accommodate work-life balance.
Competitive hourly rate based on responsibilities and experience).
Ongoing professional development, clinical supervision, and training opportunities.
A collaborative and supportive team in a values-driven mental health service.
A role with autonomy and the ability to shape your work in line with your professional skills.
We are happy to negotiate a salaried or contracted position depending on role, hours and clinician preference.
