Social Plus Support Work
Albury
About us
Social Plus Support Work is a locally based support provider in North Albury. We help people of all ages and abilities live the life they choose, at home, at work and in their community.
About the role
We’re looking for a hands-on Support Worker to join the Social Plus Workforce Team, our crew of participants with disability who are building real work skills through gardening and maintenance jobs.
You’ll work alongside participants, one-on-one or in small groups of up to three. Together you’ll take on garden, grounds and minor maintenance jobs, mainly at Social Plus properties across Albury–Wodonga. The job is the vehicle. What matters most is helping each person learn, grow in confidence and become more independent.
What you’ll do
- Support participants at ratios from 1:1 to 1:3, in line with their plans and goals
- Teach practical skills step by step, and let people try rather than doing it for them
- Mow, edge, weed, prune and mulch, remove green waste and do minor maintenance, all alongside participants
- Keep everyone safe with the right PPE, tools and secure work practices
- Transport participants in the supplied work vehicle and look after tools and equipment
- Complete shift notes that record each participant’s progress toward their goals
What we’re looking for
- Support work experience,
ideally with people with disability
- Practical gardening, grounds or handyman experience, and safe use of mowers and power tools
- Patience, a warm manner and a knack for teaching
- Reliability and the ability to work independently
- Physical fitness for outdoor work in all weather
- Confidence towing a trailer
Must have
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (NSW)
- Working with Children Check, both NSW and Victoria
- Current National Police Check
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Right to work in Australia
Highly regarded
- Certificate III or IV in Disability or Individual Support
- Certificate II or III in Horticulture or a related trade
- ChemCert (chemical application accreditation)
What we offer
- Permanent part-time hours: 30 hours over 4 days, generally Monday to Friday
- Work vehicle and trailer supplied, with paid travel time
- Pay under the SCHADS Award
- Full induction and ongoing training
- Access to our Employee Assistance Program
- Rewarding outdoor work with a supportive local team
Social Plus Support Work is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
