Practice Lead - Company Secretarial Services
Lead a specialist team. Build trusted client relationships. Help shape a growing governance services business.
Remote working | Permanent full-time | $110,000 plus superannuation
You know what good board support looks like. Explicit agendas. Timely papers. Accurate minutes. Actions followed through. Compliance obligations on track.
You also know that consistent quality takes more than one capable person. It takes a team with clear priorities, sound judgement and the support to do their work well.
At CB‑Virtual Solutions (CBVS), we’re looking for a Practice Lead – Company Secretarial Services to lead that team and help shape how our practice grows.
About CBVS
CBVS provides outsourced company secretarial, governance and board support services. We work alongside boards and management teams to help them meet their obligations, make informed decisions and keep the work of governance moving.
We now support 10% of Bendigo Bank community bank boards. These are locally owned companies that operate community bank branches under franchise arrangements with Bendigo Bank and direct a share of their profits into local community initiatives.
We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built in this sector. We’re also expanding our services into not-for-profit organisations, registered clubs and private schools.
Our approach combines experienced people with practical systems and technology. We care about accuracy, clear communication and being people our clients can rely on.
The opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll be accountable for the leadership, service quality and sustainable performance of our Company Secretarial Services practice.
This is a hands‑on leadership role. You’ll give the team clear direction, help colleagues develop their capabilities and provide senior oversight of client work. You’ll also improve the systems and processes that allow us to grow while maintaining consistent standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the team: setting priorities, clarifying expectations, coaching colleagues and addressing performance issues constructively.
- Overseeing client service delivery: maintaining quality across board and committee support, meeting documentation, governance records, statutory registers and shareholder administration.
- Managing complex matters: supporting the team with sensitive issues, client escalations and competing demands.
- Maintaining governance and quality controls: ensuring work aligns with relevant legislative, constitutional and procedural requirements.
- Improving how we work: strengthening workflows, templates, documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Managing practice performance: overseeing workloads, resourcing, utilisation and service efficiency.
- Building trusted relationships: working closely with clients, boards, the CEO and other Practice Leads.
About you
You bring substantial experience in company secretarial,
governance or board support services, together with the confidence and judgement to guide others.
You understand the importance of accurate records, well‑managed meetings, confidentiality and timely compliance. You can review detailed work, explain what needs to change and help someone improve.
We’re looking for:
- Strong knowledge of board and committee processes, company secretarial obligations and governance administration.
- Experience leading, supervising or mentoring colleagues in a professional services or similar environment.
- Excellent written communication, document preparation and quality review skills.
- The ability to build trusted relationships and handle sensitive conversations professionally.
- Sound judgement when managing competing deadlines, workloads and client expectations.
- Experience improving processes and confidence working with digital systems.
- A relevant qualification in governance, company secretarial practice, business or a related discipline—or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Experience with community bank companies, not‑for‑profit organisations, registered clubs or schools would be valuable. Governance Institute of Australia qualifications or similar professional development would also be welcomed.
You don’t need to have held a Practice Lead title before. If you’ve been mentoring colleagues, reviewing their work and taking responsibility for service quality, we’d like to hear how you’re ready for the next step.
What you can expect
- Permanent full‑time employment: 37.5 hours per week.
- Base salary of $110,000 per annum, plus superannuation.
