Essential: Full UK driving licence and access to your own car
An alternative education provider in Cambridge needs a Maths Tutor to work one-to-one with pupils aged 5 to 18 who are currently out of school. Full time or part-time, up to 30 hours a week in term time, with travel time paid and fuel reimbursed.
About the Provider
The provider works with local authorities to support young people aged 5 to 18 who are missing education, including pupils with SEND (autism, ADHD, PDA), young people in care and those who are anxious about, or have been excluded from, school. Work is one-to-one and happens wherever the pupil is most comfortable: at home, out in the community or at a learning centre.
The Role
- Teach Functional Skills Maths (Entry Level to Level 2) and GCSE Maths (Foundation and Higher) one-to-one
- Run numeracy catch-up sessions for primary-age pupils
- Set work on an online maths platform for pupils who learn at home
- Prepare pupils for exams with practice papers and revision plans
- Record attendance and progress after every session
- Keep mentors, families and the local authority updated through regular reports
What You'll Need
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own car (business insurance required)
- Maths tutoring or teaching experience – Functional Skills, GCSE or primary numeracy
- Confidence adapting lessons for pupils with autism, ADHD or low confidence in maths
- Flexible availability across Monday to Friday, up to 30 hours a week
- Experience in a PRU, alternative provision or SEN school would helpQTS preferred, particularly for GCSE teaching, but not essential
We're looking for a calm, organised tutor who will break a topic down as many times as it takes.
