About Fernberg Advisory

Fernberg Advisory is a Queensland-based government relations, public affairs, communications and strategic advisory consultancy.

We work closely with clients across a diverse range of industries, taking the time to understand their businesses, challenges and outcomes they are seeking to achieve.

Our advice combines an understanding of our clients' commercial and organisational priorities with political insight, and strategic thinking. We help clients navigate government, manage complex issues, identify opportunities and achieve meaningful results.

We pride ourselves on being professional, ethical, accessible, responsive and proactive, building trusted relationships and providing practical advice that makes a genuine difference.

We're also a small, highly experienced and friendly team that values collaboration, initiative, discretion and a sense of humour.

The opportunity

We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Associate Director to join our growing team.

This is a senior, client-facing role working on some of Queensland's most interesting political, policy and commercial issues.

At the heart of the role is understanding our clients, their businesses and what matters most to them.

Working closely with our partners, you'll manage client relationships and lead government relations, lobbying and advocacy work.

What you'll do

- Build trusted client relationships and develop a thorough understanding of their businesses, priorities and objectives.
- Provide practical,

commercially informed strategic advice that responds to client needs and supports measurable outcomes.
- Proactively identify political, policy and regulatory developments that present opportunities or risks for clients.
- Develop and implement government relations, lobbying and stakeholder engagement strategies with a high degree of autonomy.
- Develop and execute advocacy and public affairs campaigns, coordinating political, economic, industry, community and media engagement.
- Prepare high-quality briefings, submissions, correspondence and communications materials.
- Engage with government officials and stakeholders at all levels.
- Contribute to business development and the continued growth of Fernberg Advisory.

About you

We're looking for someone with strong political instincts, commercial awareness, excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to client service.

Ideally, you'll bring:

- Experience in government, policy, political advisory, government relations, public affairs, campaigning or a related field.
- A strong understanding of Queensland's political environment and government decision-making processes.
- Experience developing or delivering political,

advocacy or public affairs campaigns.
- The ability to distil complex commercial and policy issues into clear, practical advice and strategy.
- The ability to build trusted relationships and communicate confidently with clients and senior stakeholders.
- Strong judgement, initiative, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive, collaborative approach, a positive attitude and a sense of humour.
- A strong desire to build your skills and develop your potential.
- Discretion and integrity are essential. You'll be trusted with sensitive information and must demonstrate maturity, professionalism and sound judgement.

The successful candidate must be eligible and willing to register as a lobbyist on the Queensland Lobbying Register and other lobbying registers as required, and to comply with relevant regulatory requirements. Why join us?

You'll join a small, supportive team that takes pride in its work and genuinely enjoys what it does.

We offer interesting and varied work, direct engagement with senior decisionmakers and ownership of client relationships.

We also offer considerable flexibility to work from home, with an emphasis on trust, accountability and results. As the role is client-facing, you'll need to be available for meetings when and where required.

You'll work directly with experienced advisers and have the prospect to help shape the future of a growing business.

- At Fernberg Advisory, we believe good advice matters most when it leads to measurable outcomes.
