About the Company

EC Controls is seeking an experienced BMS Estimator to support the continued growth of our Sydney operations.

As part of EC Group, EC Controls delivers building automation and energy management solutions across commercial, education, healthcare, government and infrastructure projects.

Working within a multi-vendor, open-protocol environment, you will play a key role in developing competitive, technically robust tenders that deliver long-term value for our clients.

About the Role

As a BMS Estimator, you will work closely with our engineering, project delivery, service and business development teams to prepare accurate, commercially aligned estimates for Building Management Systems (BMS) projects.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of BMS and HVAC controls who enjoys technical problem-solving, interpreting specifications and developing cost-effective solutions.

Based in Sydney, you will contribute to a diverse range of projects while helping strengthen EC Controls' position in the building automation market.

Key Responsibilities

- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to prepare accurate BMS estimates.
- Develop detailed bills of materials, labour allowances and project cost breakdowns.
- Assess design requirements and validate technical assumptions in collaboration with engineering teams.




- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain pricing, compare products and evaluate alternative solutions.
- Prepare and support tender submissions, tender clarifications and value-engineering opportunities.
- Work closely with business development managers and project managers to ensure proposals are competitive and aligned with client requirements.
- Identify project risks, scope gaps and potential cost variations during the estimating process.
- Maintain an understanding of BMS platforms, market pricing trends and competitor offerings.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates and internal processes.

About You

You are a technically minded estimator with a strong understanding of building automation and controls. You can interpret technical documentation, assess project requirements and develop accurate estimates while balancing technical performance and commercial outcomes.

You will ideally bring

- Proven experience in BMS, building automation or HVAC controls estimating.
- A strong technical understanding of BMS architectures, field devices, networks and system integration.
- The ability to interpret mechanical, electrical and controls drawings.




- Experience with open protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines.

Desirable Experience

Experience with one or more of the following platforms will be highly regarded:

- Schneider Electric
- Siemens
- Honeywell
- Tridium / Niagara
- Delta Controls
- ABB

A background in controls engineering, commissioning or BMS project delivery would also be advantageous, along with an understanding of the NSW construction market. What's on Offer?
