As our Assistant Accountant, you will support the finance function by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining accounting records, assisting with month-end reporting, and providing financial support to the wider finance team. You will play a key part in ensuring compliance, financial accuracy and integrity, and effective financial control across the business.

Key responsibilities

Process general ledger journals, accruals, prepayments, and account reconciliations.

Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.

Assist in the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and supporting working papers.

Support month-end and year-end close processes.

Accounts Payable Support

Assist with supplier invoice processing and payment runs.

Weekly reconciliation of business credit card expenses.

Processing of intercompany transactions, processing of invoices and reconciliation of accounts.

Retail Accounting

Reconcile daily sales, EFTPOS, cash, and online transaction reports.

Prepare weekly reconciliations between the POS system and accounting system.

Compliance and Controls

Accuracy and timeliness of month-end reporting.

Completion of account reconciliations within deadlines.

Compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.

What we're looking for

A Diploma or Degree in Accounting, with at least 2 years' experience in an accounting or finance role.

Strong Excel skills, with confidence working with data, spreadsheets and financial information.





Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Excellent attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting and record keeping.

Robust organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with others.

A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to take initiative and work independently.

Experience in a multi-site, multi-country retail environment would be advantageous.

Progress towards CPA qualification, experience with ERP systems or exposure to complex retail bank reconciliations would be highly regarded.
