About The Opportunity

BRYK Consulting is seeking an experienced ETL Developer / Data Engineer to support a significant data modernisation and platform rationalisation initiative within a Victorian Government environment.

This role will focus on assessing, transitioning and modernising existing data products, reporting solutions and ETL processes as part of a broader legacy platform decommissioning program.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise across Microsoft Azure, SQL Server, SSIS, Power BI and DAX, combined with the ability to work collaboratively with business and technical stakeholders to deliver reliable, efficient and maintainable data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyse existing data products, reports, dashboards and datasets to identify dependencies, data flows and transformation requirements.
- Design, develop and maintain ETL processes to support data migration, integration and reporting requirements.
- Develop and optimise data solutions using Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, SSIS and T-SQL.
- Design, develop and enhance Power BI reports, dashboards and semantic models using DAX.
- Assess existing data products and recommend appropriate transition, consolidation or decommissioning approaches.
- Develop and maintain database structures, data marts,



data stores and associated data models.
- Implement performance improvements to ensure productive data processing and reporting.
- Develop automated unit tests and data quality validation processes.
- Utilise Azure DevOps for source control, CI/CD pipelines and deployment activities.
- Produce technical documentation, solution designs and handover materials.
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, developers, business analysts and stakeholders to deliver agreed outcomes.

Essential Skills and Experience To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must demonstrate:
- Minimum 3 years' experience designing and developing ETL processes.

- Minimum 3 years' experience designing and implementing Microsoft Power BI solutions.

- Demonstrated experience developing DAX calculations and measures.
- Strong SQL and T-SQL development skills, including stored procedures, views, indexing and query optimisation.
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure data services, particularly Azure SQL and Azure Data Factory.
- Experience developing and maintaining SSIS packages and data integration solutions.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, transformation, mapping and integration principles.




- Experience working with large datasets and complex data environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Highly Desirable
- Experience with Azure Key Vault and Azure DevOps release pipelines.
- Experience implementing data marts, data warehouses, data stores or data lakes.
- Experience developing automated testing and data quality assurance frameworks.
- Previous involvement in legacy system migration, data platform consolidation or decommissioning initiatives.
- Experience working within Victorian Government or similarly complex enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and structured project governance.
