Receptionist (aka Director of First Impressions)
Full time, part time or job share. Career receptionists and law students welcome.
? SPRING HILL, Brisbane (would also be open to WYNNUM)
? Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. One person full time, or two people sharing the week
? Front of House
Empire Legal is a property law firm in Wynnum. We do conveyancing, plus wills, estates and commercial work, and we’re looking for someone (or two someones) to run our front desk and keep the place humming.
If you have a excellent phone manner, stay calm when three things happen at once, and genuinely like making people feel welcome, read on.
Who we’re looking for
This role suits two kinds of people, and we’d love to hear from either.
Experienced receptionists. If front of house is your thing and you’re after a permanent role in a friendly, settled team, this is a proper home for you. You’ll be the person who sets the tone for the whole office, and we’ll back you to own it. Experience in a law firm or conveyancing practice is a bonus, but not essential.
Law students. If you’re studying law and want a foot in the door, this is a genuine way in. Alongside running reception, you’ll prepare client paperwork, help with identity verification, run property searches and assist our senior lawyers with ad hoc tasks across property, commercial and estates matters. You’ll see how a law firm actually runs and learn from experienced practitioners while you study.
We’re happy to job share the role, set fixed days so you can plan around uni, and work with you on exam periods if you talk to us early.
About you
- Warm, polished and easy to talk to, on the phone and in person
- Organised, proactive and good at keeping track of the small stuff
- You write a clear,
professional email (and make a decent cup of tea)
- Unflappable, friendly, and able to laugh at a bad joke
- Reliable and happy to own the front desk, because reception always comes first
What you’ll be doing
- Being the first point of contact for clients, agents, visitors and the team
- Running the firm’s general inbox like an air traffic controller: handling quote enquiries, landing emails with the right person and making sure nothing circles forever
- Answering and directing calls with warmth (no robots here)
- Managing appointments, the reception inbox and deliveries
- Data entry and assisting with initial paperwork packs for clients, agents and solicitors
- Preparing VOI paperwork ready for file handlers to sign, and filing VOIs from completed matters
- Helping file handlers and senior lawyers with ad hoc tasks
- Keeping reception tidy and welcoming
- The occasional road trip down the hill to the CBD for banking, settlements and deliveries
Why you’ll like it here
- A close-knit team that notices what you do and says thank you
- Hands-on experience in a busy property practice, working alongside senior lawyers and highly experienced professionals
- Working alongside some of the best in the business, in a team where everyone pitches in and supports each other
- Room to grow, whatever direction you want to grow in
- Flexibility to set your days around study if you’re job sharing
- Regular team lunches and celebrations, because the work’s serious but the vibe doesn’t have to be
How to apply
- Send your resume and a short note to
[email protected]. Tell us whether you’re after full time, part time or a job share (and which days suit). Bonus points if you can share your favourite GIF that best suits you (see our "About Us" page on our website for inspo).
