M365 Platform Engineer

Contract: Early December to early March

Location: Geelong, Victoria

Working Arrangement: Hybrid preferred, with Thursday as the main office day for locally based candidates. Fully remote candidates based in Victoria will also be considered.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer for a contract opportunity providing leave cover within an established team. The role will involve a mix of BAU platform support and project delivery across the Microsoft 365 environment. This is a broad platform engineering role rather than a traditional service desk position, with responsibilities spanning Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Entra ID, Intune, tenant administration, Conditional Access and migration activities.

The successful candidate will be an experienced M365 Platform Engineer with hands-on capability across at least two Microsoft 365 platform areas and the ability to operate autonomously across both BAU and project-based activities.

For candidates based locally, Thursday is the team's main North Geelong office day. Fully remote candidates based elsewhere in Victoria will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

BAU / Platform Support

- Provide technical administration and support across Microsoft 365 platforms.
- Support and administer SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Entra ID and Intune environments.
- Provide Level 2 / Level 3 support when required, including assisting when the service desk team is unavailable.
- Manage Microsoft 365 licensing and monitor relevant Message Centre communications and changes.
- Perform Microsoft 365 tenant administration and ongoing platform management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues.
- Support platform improvements, enhancements and change initiatives.




- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support platform capability and adoption.

Project Delivery:
- Contribute to Microsoft 365 projects, roadmap initiatives and platform improvements.
- Support the migration of legacy applications and content into SharePoint Online.
- Create and manage SharePoint permissions and access.
- Support Microsoft 365 tenant-related project activities.
- Configure and manage Conditional Access policies.
- Support file and data migrations using ShareGate.
- Contribute to platform assessments, planning and migration activities.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Demonstrated experience as a Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer, Systems Engineer or similar platform-focused role.
- Broad, practical knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
- Strong hands-on experience across at least two Microsoft 365 platform areas.
- Hands-on experience with SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams.
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID and Intune.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 tenant administration.
- Experience with Conditional Access policies.
- Experience using ShareGate for migration activities.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 platform changes, enhancements and project delivery.
- Ability to provide Level 2 / Level 3 technical support where required.
- Ability to work autonomously and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Subject matter expertise in at least one Microsoft 365 capability area.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with large-scale Microsoft 365 or SharePoint migration programs.
- Experience migrating legacy applications or content into SharePoint Online.
- Exposure to Microsoft 365 governance, security and contemporary workplace initiatives.
- Experience managing Microsoft 365 licensing and Message Centre activities.
- Experience within enterprise or government environments.
