Harry Maxwell are recruiting experienced Senior Estimators on behalf of a well-established and growing civil construction, SMP and mining infrastructure contractor based in Perth.

With continued project activity across the resources, water infrastructure, energy and industrial sectors, we are looking for experienced contractor-side estimators specialising in either Earthworks & Civil or Structural, Mechanical & Piping (SMP).

About the Role

Our client is looking for experienced Senior Estimators to lead the preparation and technical review of complex construction tenders across two specialist streams:

Earthworks & Civil

Bulk and detailed earthworks, roads, drainage, concrete, trenching, dewatering, pipelines and associated civil infrastructure.

Structural, Mechanical & Piping (SMP)

Structural steel fabrication and erection, mechanical equipment installation, pumps, tanks, HDPE and steel piping, pipelines and associated SMP packages.

Candidates do not need experience across both disciplines. We are looking for strong estimating capability within either Earthworks & Civil or SMP.

Using first principles estimating, you'll take ownership of assigned tenders from initial scope and drawing review through quantity take-offs, labour and plant build-ups, supplier and subcontractor pricing, risk assessment and final submission.

You'll work closely with engineering, planning and operations to ensure estimates reflect practical construction methodology, productivity, site constraints and programme requirements, while providing technical review and guidance across the estimating function.

Key Responsibilities





- Own the preparation and timely completion of first principles estimates and tender submissions
- Review scopes, specifications, drawings, quantities and contract requirements
- Develop detailed labour, crew, plant, material and production-rate build-ups
- Assess construction methodology, productivity, site constraints and project risk
- Coordinate supplier and subcontractor enquiries and assess scope coverage and pricing
- Work with planning and operations to align estimates with construction sequence, resources and programme
- Lead and participate in tender reviews, clarifications and risk assessments
- Review and quality-check estimates and provide technical guidance to other estimators
- Support tender negotiations and the transition of successful tenders into project delivery
- Maintain robust, auditable and well-documented estimates, assumptions and pricing information

About You - Essential

- Minimum 7 years' relevant estimating experience within construction, mining, resources or infrastructure
- Proven contractor-side estimating experience, rather than solely consultancy or client-side cost planning
- Strong first-principles estimating capability
- Demonstrated ownership of tenders from scope review through pricing,



submission and handover
- Strong technical estimating experience within either Earthworks & Civil or Structural, Mechanical & Piping
- Strong understanding of construction methodology, labour, plant, productivity and project risk
- Ability to technically review estimates and support other estimators

Relevant discipline experience includes:

- Earthworks & Civil: bulk earthworks and associated civil infrastructure
- Structural, Mechanical & Piping: structural steel, mechanical installation and piping construction

About You - Desirable

- Resources, mining and remote Western Australian/Pilbara estimating experience
- Water infrastructure, pipelines, borefields, pump stations or treatment facility exposure
- Advanced working knowledge of Candy or an equivalent estimating system
- Advanced Excel and digital quantity take-off capability
- Experience across ECI, EPC, Design & Construct, lump sum or schedule-of-rates tenders
- Relevant engineering, construction management, quantity surveying or trade qualification
- Self-perform construction or fabrication estimating experience
- This is an prospect for an experienced estimator to remain technically hands-on while taking senior ownership of significant tenders and helping shape how complex projects are priced, planned and transitioned into delivery.
