Could you be our next HR Truck Driver?
Based at a manufacturing and distribution site near Corbould Park, you’ll deliver steel to construction sites across the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane region.
This is a hands-on driving role. When you’re back at the yard, you’ll help prepare loads and support the wider team. You’ll join a well-organised operation with automatic trucks, clear safety procedures and experienced drivers to help you learn the routes and systems.
Your new role
- Drive HR rigid trucks delivering steeland related products to construction sites
- Complete vehicle pre-starts and check your truck and load before leaving the yard
- Secure loads correctly and follow safe loading, transport and unloading procedures
- Operate a vehicle-loading crane where required, once you hold the appropriate qualification and have completed site training and competency sign-off
- Assess site access and unloading conditions, and contact dispatch or management if a delivery cannot be completed safely
- Use the company’s delivery systems, tracking, photos and paperwork accurately
- Communicate clearly with customers, site contacts, dispatch, warehouse and production staff
- Help prepare and secure other loads when you return to the yard
- Assist with housekeeping, material handling and production tasks when deliveries are quiet and you have been trained for the work
What you’ll need
- A current HR licence and practical truck driving experience
- Experience delivering to construction sites or handling long or awkward loads
- Sound load-restraint skills and a consistent approach to vehicle pre-starts
- A vehicle-loading crane ticket and experience, or a genuine willingness to obtain the required qualification yourself
- Confidence using digital delivery systems and following written instructions
- A dependable plan for the early start and flexibility around variable finish times
- Willingness to complete the required pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening
HC or MC experience, forklift experience and a background delivering steel, scaffolding, timber, roofing or other construction products would be valuable, but are not required to apply for these HR positions.
What sets you apart
- You make safe decisions at unfamiliar sites instead of forcing a delivery
- You can deal calmly and professionally with customers and site crews
- You look after the truck, the load and the people around you
- You’re happy to help in the yard and shed rather than waiting in the cab for the next run
- You’re reliable, open to training and looking for a long-term opportunity
The reality of the role
You’ll initially go out with experienced drivers to learn the trucks, routes, pre-starts, delivery process and systems. You’ll then build from simpler runs to multiple deliveries as your confidence and required sign-offs develop. The hours are robust at present, although the amount and timing of overtime depend on training progress and delivery demand.
The expectation is straightforward: drivers are part of the whole team. If you take pride in the delivery and are willing to pitch in when you’re back on site, you’ll fit the way this operation works.
