About the role

THE MERCHANT EXCHANGE is seeking an experienced and passionate Whiskey Bar Manager to join our team in Brisbane. This is a full-time position based in Brisbane cbd, offering an exciting opportunity to lead and manage operations at one of the city's boutique whiskey bar venues. As Whiskey Bar Manager, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer experiences whilst maintaining high standards of service, profitability and the menu. This role is crucial to the success of our venue and requires a dynamic leader who understands the hospitality industry and can drive excellence across all aspects of bar operations.

What you'll be doing

- Overseeing daily bar operations, including opening and closing procedures, stock management and cash handling

- Leading, training and motivating bar staff to deliver outstanding service and achieve performance targets

- Managing inventory of whiskeys, spirits and other beverages, including ordering, stock rotation and supplier relationships

- Developing and implementing strategies to increase revenue, customer retention and brand awareness

- Develop cocktail lists.

- Creating an engaging and welcoming atmosphere that encourages customer loyalty and repeat business

- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and hygiene throughout the bar premises

- Collaborating with management to develop menus, promotions and special events

What we're looking for

- Proven experience in a bar management role within a hospitality or licensed venue setting

- Extensive knowledge of whiskeys, spirits and cocktails, with the ability to educate customers and staff

- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff

- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build positive relationships with patrons





- Knowledge of current liquor licensing laws and responsible service of alcohol practices

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays

- A genuine passion for the hospitality industry and for delivering exceptional experiences
