Hobart

The Opportunity: Pacific Talent Partners has been exclusively retained to appoint a Global Sales Director for a private equity-owned global pioneer in marine technology. As the undisputed industry standard for the international scientific community, this organisation enables the understanding of complex underwater environments for prestigious government bodies, research institutes, and commercial enterprises in over 70 countries. Following a recent strategic acquisition by a global leader in marine technology and sustainable fishing, the business is entering a pivotal phase of international expansion. This is a rare leadership opportunity to lead a world-class scientific organisation through its next stage of institutional growth. You will be responsible for scaling the firm’s reach and bridging the gap between world-class scientific excellence and high-growth commercial software operations. The Role: Reporting to the Group Board, the Global Sales Director will hold full P&L; accountability. The mandate is not to disrupt for the sake of disruption, but to architect a Hybrid & Cloud Strategy that respects the procurement realities of government stakeholders while meeting the scalability needs of industrial maritime and autonomous vehicle sectors. You will bridge the gap between world-class scientific excellence and high-growth, contemporary software operations.

Key Responsibilities
• Global Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and drive a comprehensive go-to-market strategy that accelerates global revenue acquisition, drives pipeline velocity, and expands market share across international territories.

• Revenue Generation & Performance: Take full ownership of global sales targets, driving sustainable top-line growth, forecasting accuracy, and conversion rates to meet international group revenue and EBIT objectives.
• Market Expansion & New Business Development: Spearhead direct sales and distribution channels to aggressively penetrate high-growth verticals, including aquaculture, renewable energy, and climate change research.
• Strategic Account & Partnership Management: Cultivate, negotiate, and close high-value deals with prestigious government bodies, research institutes, and commercial enterprises, while leveraging group synergies for cross-selling opportunities.
• Sales Leadership & Team Optimisation: Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing global commercial team, establishing robust KPIs, coaching frameworks, and a winning, high-growth sales culture.
• Commercial Governance & Complex Contracting: Navigate the complex procurement realities of government and institutional stakeholders, overseeing multi-jurisdictional contract negotiations and profitable deal structuring.
• Product-Led Sales Alignment:

Bridge the gap between the "science-first" technical teams and the market, ensuring customer feedback directly informs the commercial narrative and go-to-market rollout for new AI and real-time capabilities.
• Board & Stakeholder Reporting: Act as the commercial lead for Australian operations, delivering transparent, data-driven reporting on sales performance, market trends, and key commercial milestones to the international Group Board. Core Competencies:
• Executive Leadership: A proven track record as a Sales Leader or CEO within a high-growth technology, SaaS, or scientific software environment.
• Commercial Acumen: Deep experience in sales management with the ability to drive international sales and scale operations across global markets.
• Strategic Integration: Experience navigating the complexities of international ownership and integrating local operations into a global group structure.
• Technical Literacy: The ability to command respect within a specialised, "science-first" workforce while translating technical excellence into commercial value. We anticipate a high volume of interest and encourage all expressions of interest to apply directly. All applications will be handled with the strictest confidence and will be acknowledged upon receipt. Further details, including a comprehensive position briefing, will be provided to qualified candidates upon application. Applicants must hold unrestricted Australian working rights. This search is led by Lachlan Kanaan, who can be contacted at [email protected]
