Primary objective
Finance Officer is responsible for the provision of quality financial services and leadership to internal and external clients
including the handling of prisoner private monies and associated financial management for the Alice Springs Correctional
Centre.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Management of prisoner private monies including receipting, cash payments, prisoner special buys, discharge monies

and prisoner earnings using Pronto system, associated programs and databases.
2. Undertake duties as Petty Cash Advance holder.
3. Assist in the reconciliation of cheque and cash advances held by ASCC for prisoner monies.
4.



Handle a range of enquiries and provide explicit, timely, practical information and guidance in accordance with relevant

NT Government Legislation and Departmental Policies.
5. Assist administrative duties during staff absences.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in cash management and handling, including reconciliations, financial management and

reporting.
2. Demonstrated experience in confidential support functions and office administration procedures.
3. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with people from diverse

cultures and all levels of staff.
4. Proven skills in financial reconciliation, the effective use of computerised accounting systems high levels of data entry.
5. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, using initiative and sound judgement to manage priorities

and deliver quality outcomes.
6. Proven ability to source, interpret and apply legislation and policy pertaining to finance functions.
7. Knowledge of computer software programs, including the Microsoft Office Suite applications, IT systems and records

management.
