Retail / Store Manager – Grocery Store

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail / Store Manager to manage the daily operations of our grocery store. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing store operations, managing staff, controlling inventory, monitoring financial performance and ensuring excellent customer service.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Plan, organise and manage the overall operations of the grocery store to ensure productive and profitable business performance.
- Determine the range of grocery products, stock levels and service standards according to customer demand and business requirements.
- Develop and implement purchasing policies and negotiate with suppliers regarding product pricing, quality and delivery arrangements.
- Establish and review retail prices, profit margins and promotional offers to achieve business targets.
- Monitor inventory levels, manage stock ordering and deliveries, and maintain appropriate stock control procedures.
- Prepare and manage store budgets, monitor sales revenue and operating expenses, and implement cost-control measures.
- Analyse sales reports and financial performance to identify opportunities for increased profitability and business growth.
- Plan and coordinate marketing activities, product promotions and merchandising strategies to attract customers and increase sales.
- Recruit, train, supervise and manage store employees, including preparing staff rosters and conducting performance reviews.




- Establish and maintain high standards of customer service and manage customer enquiries, feedback and complaints.
- Oversee product displays, store presentation, stock rotation and quality control.
- Maintain accurate records of purchasing, inventory, sales transactions and financial activities.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, workplace health and safety requirements and relevant retail industry standards.
- Develop and implement operational procedures to improve store efficiency, productivity and customer satisfaction.
- Report regularly to the business owner on store performance, staffing, sales and operational matters.

Skills and Qualifications

- Relevant qualification in Retail Management, Business Management or a related field, or substantial relevant work experience.
- Previous experience in retail management, preferably within a grocery store, supermarket or similar retail business.
- Strong leadership, staff management and organisational skills.
- Experience in stock control, purchasing, supplier negotiations and inventory management.
- Ability to manage budgets, monitor financial performance and achieve sales targets.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of retail operations, food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and make effective business decisions.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $82,000.00 per year
