We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Motel Manager to run the day-to-day operations of our 63-room motel in Rutherford.

This is a full-time, permanent live-in position reporting to the Directors and the Head of Operations. It suits an experienced accommodation manager looking for a stable, long-term role with real responsibility for the motel’s performance.

Salary & Perks

- $80,000 – $100,000 salary + Super
- Performance bonus paid against agreed KPIs (occupancy, average daily rate, and operating profit)

The Location

Rutherford is near Maitland, on the doorstep of Hunter Valley wine country. It’s about 30 minutes from Newcastle and two hours from Sydney.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee daily operations, including reservations, reception, housekeeping, public area cleaning, repairs and maintenance, and gardens and grounds
- Lead, recruit, train and roster the team, and build a culture focused on good service
- Manage budgets, financial reporting and cost control
- Manage rates and distribution across Booking.com, Expedia, GDS and other channels via SiteMinder and our PMS (Protel)




- Develop and carry out sales and marketing plans to grow revenue
- Keep high standards of cleanliness, presentation, safety and security across the property
- Monitor guest feedback and act on it
- Provide regular performance updates to the Directors

About You

Essential:

- You currently live in Australia
- You have full Australian work rights
- At least two years’ experience managing a motel or similar accommodation property

You’ll also bring:

- A hands-on approach: you’re comfortable working across reception, housekeeping and maintenance when needed
- Proven leadership, with experience recruiting and managing a team
- Sound financial and budgeting skills
- Experience with a PMS and channel manager (Protel and SiteMinder preferred)
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Reliability, good organisation and a professional manner with guests
- A current driver’s licence
- Willingness to obtain a current police check
