Montgomery Advisory is partnering with a leading national law firm to recruit a Junior Lawyer or Associate to join its growing Insurance team in Sydney.

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior lawyer to develop their career in defendant insurance litigation, working with some of Australia's largest insurers on a range of personal injury claims. You will join an experienced and collaborative team, gaining hands‑on experience across complex matters, court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution, with strong mentoring and opportunities for career progression.

The Role

You will work across a broad range of insurance litigation matters, primarily involving personal injury, with some exposure to property damage claims. Your responsibilities will include:

- Public liability, CTP and professional negligence claims
- Preparing advices on liability and damages
- Investigating claims and analysing expert evidence
- Drafting pleadings, defences, cross‑claims and other court documents
- Preparing for and attending court applications and proceedings
- Assisting with mediations, settlement conferences and hearings




- Conducting legal research and advising on relevant legal developments
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders

About You

You will have:

- 1-4 years' post-admission experience in insurance litigation or general litigation
- An interest in defendant insurance and personal injury matters
- Robust research, drafting and analytical skills
- Excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to learn
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering excellent client service
