Tired of six minute units? Want to see what happens after the advice is given?
We’re a growing South Australian food business working across manufacturing, processing, wholesale and value added products. We’re looking for a Financial Accountant who wants to do more than close the month.
The role
You’ll report directly to our Managing Director and oversee our internal bookkeeper. You’ll own the integrity of the numbers, then use them to help us make better calls on pricing, margins, cash and growth. You’ll also be our main point of contact with our external accountant and auditor.
What you’ll do
- Prepare monthly management accounts with clear, useful commentary
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow forecasting
- Build and maintain product costing and pricing models, and track product and customer margins
- Keep a close eye on working capital, including debtors, creditors and inventory
- Supervise and support our bookkeeper with transactional and payroll work including reviewing their work and strengthening our controls
- Prepare reporting for shareholders and our bank
- Work with our external accountant and auditor to keep us audit ready
About you
- Around 3 to 5 years in skilled practice and ready to move into commerce, or a commercial accountant from a larger organisation wanting broader exposure
- CA or CPA qualified, or well on your way (preferred)
- Xero experience (preferred)
- Employment hero experience (preferred)
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
- Commercially curious. You ask why, not just what happened
- Confident explaining numbers to people who don’t speak finance, and happy to challenge assumptions constructively
- Experience in food, manufacturing or FMCG is a bonus, not a dealbreaker
What’s in it for you
- Direct access to the MD and genuine influence on decisions
- A role that grows as the business grows
- Time on the floor, not just behind a screen
