The Opportunity

Based in Brisbane and reporting to the Retail Operations Manager, the Hatter is responsible for the design, creation, finishing and refurbishment of premium handcrafted hats. You will ensure every piece meets the highest standards of craftsmanship while supporting retail, wholesale and event sales, brand storytelling and the commercial performance of the category. This is a hands-on role that blends traditional hat-making skills with creative design and customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop original hat styles that capture Australian heritage while incorporating contemporary elements
- Block, form, iron, pounce and finish hats by hand and machine across a range of sizes and styles
- Cut and shape brims, install and customise sweatbands, liners and hat bands
- Restore and refurbish hats – dismantling, cleaning, reshaping, re-blocking and carrying out minor felt repairs
- Maintain rigorous quality standards for make, fit, finish and presentation
- Support retail and event sales through expert product knowledge,



fitting, styling and customisation advice
- Travel to regional and remote locations to support industry events, trade shows, field days, rodeos and agricultural shows
- Act as a brand ambassador – demonstrating techniques, managing pop-up stores and building customer relationships

- hands-on experience in hat blocking, forming and finishing hats.
- ability to design and create original headwear with commercial appeal
- exceptional attention to detail and high standards of craftsmanship
- confidence and safety using specialised tools, machinery and materials
- strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- excellent customer service and communication skills
- willingness to travel for events and brand activation
