Position summary

Join our dynamic team as a Commissioning Mechanical Technician on a major infrastructure project in Karratha, WA, where you'll play a critical role in delivering world-class mechanical commissioning and handover of fixed-plant equipment in one of Australia's most significant resource regions.

You'll leverage your lube oil flushing expertise and mechanical commissioning experience to support pre-commissioning, functional testing, and equipment inspections, ensuring all systems meet rigorous industry standards and are ready for safe operation.

Working closely with construction, engineering, and operations teams, you'll apply your technical problem-solving skills to verify mechanical completion, identify faults on rotating equipment, and drive defect rectification and punch-list close-out activities.

About the role

- Support mechanical commissioning, testing and handover of fixed-plant equipment across the project site.
- Perform lube oil flushing and hydraulic system commissioning activities to industry standards.
- Verify mechanical completion and ensure equipment installation aligns with project specifications.
- Conduct pre-commissioning activities, functional testing and equipment inspections.




- Identify faults and support defect rectification during commissioning phases.
- Collaborate with construction, engineering and operations teams throughout the commissioning process.
- Complete punch-list activities and ensure equipment is compliant and ready for safe handover.
- Maintain accurate commissioning documentation and test records.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and site procedures.

About the candidate

- Hold an Australian-recognised Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner Trade Certificate.
- Bring a minimum of 5 years' proven experience in mechanical commissioning within the resources or mining sector.
- Demonstrate hands-on expertise in lube oil flushing and hydraulic systems commissioning.
- Have strong exposure to fixed-plant mechanical commissioning, testing and handover processes.
- Possess current Construction Card (White), Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry certifications.
- Show proven ability in functional testing, fault identification and defect rectification on rotating equipment.
- Display excellent technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail during inspections and testing.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety compliance and adherence to industry standards.
- Work effectively within cross-functional teams including construction, engineering and operations personnel.
- Adapt comfortably to FIFO 14/7 roster arrangements and remote site conditions.
- Hold current Australian working rights with no restrictions.
