About the role

Cairns Recycling is seeking a reliable, hands-on Senior Yard Hand to join our team. This is a practical hands-on role for someone who takes initiative, supports their co-workers and can help keep the depot secure, hygienic, organized and running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

- Deliver excellent customer service and accurate cash handling.

- Oversee and assist with daily yard operations, customer-focused recycling services, stock control and general site management.

- Maintain a clean, hygienic, safe and organized depot, with workplace health and safety being of the utmost importance.

- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

- Support and guide co-workers, in addition to the coordination of the day-to-day tasks so the required work gets done.

- Maintain accurate digital records using our computer-based systems in place.

- Work across our multiple locations as required.

- The ability to work independently, take responsibility and use initiative.

- Basic computer, maths and English skills.

- A team-focused approach and willingness to get hands-on.

- Physical fitness, a professional presentation and a friendly, approachable demeanor.

- A commitment to site hygiene, safety and maintaining workplace standards.

- Flexibility to work across a seven-day operating week, including the weekends.

- Desirable: Current forklift license.

- Desirable: Current First Aid and CPR qualifications.
