Position Overview

The Head Cashier serves as the lead supervisor for the front-end checkout area. This role balances high-level customer service with administrative and financial oversight. You are responsible for ensuring the checkout process is productive, accurate, and skilled while guiding a team of cashiers to meet performance standards.

Key Responsibilities1. Financial Management & Reporting
Cash Handling : Manage large sums of currency, including opening and closing registers, processing bank deposits, and managing the store safe.
Auditing : Perform regular "till" audits and spot checks to ensure accuracy and prevent shrinkage.
Reconciliation : Resolve discrepancies between sales reports and actual cash/credit totals at the end of shifts.
Overrides : Authorize price adjustments, voids, returns, and exchanges that exceed standard cashier permissions.
Team Leadership & Supervision
Training : Onboard new cashiers on Point of Sale (POS) systems, store policies, and customer service etiquette.
Scheduling :



Assist management in coordinating shift rotations and break schedules to ensure constant coverage.
Mentorship : Act as the first point of contact for cashier inquiries and provide real-time coaching on efficiency and accuracy.
Customer Experience
Escalation Handling : Calmly resolve complex customer complaints or billing disputes that require a supervisory touch.
Flow Management : Monitor queue lengths and open recent registers or reassign staff as needed to minimize wait times.
Store Knowledge : Maintain up-to-date knowledge of promotions, loyalty programs, and return policies to assist both staff and customers.
Operational Support
Supply Management : Ensure all registers are stocked with bags, receipt paper, and cleaning supplies.
Safety Compliance : Ensure the front-end area remains clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.

Pay: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour
