Zerella Fresh is one of Australia's largest growers and packers of carrots, onions and potatoes, supplying major supermarket chains, independent retailers, and export markets nationwide.We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated General Accountant to join our team at our Virginia office in South Australia.This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic agribusiness environment, supporting the financial operations of our potato, carrot and onion divisions.
Reporting directly to the Financial Accountant and working closely with the CFO, you will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and insightful financial information to support business performance and compliance.As General Accountant, you will contribute to operational finance activities, ensuring robust financial controls and supporting informed decision-making across the business.Zerella Fresh is an approved employment sponsor and we can offer visa sponsorship to the right candidate.Please note this position will need to regularly travel to our secondary site located in Parilla, SA.Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Supporting the Financial Accountant and CFO to optimise financial and operational performance across the Pye Group.Preparing, reviewing and maintaining financial statements and management reportsManaging accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entriesCompleting month-end and year-end close processesPreparing business activity statements (BAS) and other regulatory reportsInvestigating variances,



discrepancies and irregularities in financial dataSupporting the development of budgets and financial forecastsEnsuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and requirementsCoordinating audit documentation and liaising with external auditorsProviding financial insights that support business planningMaintaining organised financial documentation and record-keeping systems.Examining operating costs and organisations' income and expenditureReviewing and accurately processing supplier invoices.Preparing and processing weekly payment runs and ad hoc payments.Managing project-related payments and maintaining supporting documentation.Responsible for maintaining and reconciling potato seed accountPerforming daily bank reconciliations and monitoring cash flow.Assisting with financial reporting, analysis and ad hoc projects as required.All other directions of management to achieve the company's objectives.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience)Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar finance/accounting roleStrong Microsoft Office skills, particularly advanced Excel capabilityHigh attention to detail and strong analytical skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressureA proactive, solutions-focused approachCommitment to continuous learning and professional developmentAbility to work both independently and as part of a collaborative teamFull and unrestricted driver's licence (essential)
