You don't necessarily need previous funeral industry experience. What matters most is your ability to connect with people, listen, stay composed under pressure and treat every family with care and respect. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
What makes this role different?
This is more than a customer service role. You'll be there for people during some of the most significant moments of their lives, helping families feel supported and ensuring their loved one's farewell is handled with dignity.
Based in Maclean, you'll play an important role in supporting local families and building relationships throughout the surrounding community. This is a unique prospect for someone who enjoys working independently, taking ownership of their day and making a genuine difference locally.
While you'll be the main point of contact at the Maclean location, you'll remain an important part of the wider Grafton team. Strong communication is key, as you'll work closely with colleagues remotely, keeping connected, sharing updates and reaching out for support when needed.
You'll need to be comfortable working independently, as well as working respectfully with deceased persons and supporting families experiencing grief and loss.
If you've worked in hospitality, aged care,

community services, healthcare, retail, events or another people-focused environment, your experience could translate incredibly well.
What you'll be doing
Meeting with families and listening carefully to their wishes
Helping families plan and coordinate meaningful funeral services
Conducting funeral services with professionalism, warmth and respect
Being a calm and reassuring presence for families throughout the process
Working respectfully and professionally around deceased persons
Coordinating the details behind each service to ensure everything runs smoothly
Building relationships with local nursing homes, businesses and community contacts
Working closely with colleagues in Grafton to coordinate services and provide the best possible support to families
Managing the day-to-day responsibilities of the Maclean location with confidence and initiative
Keeping communication open with the wider team and proactively seeking support when needed
Maintaining high standards of care, presentation, safety and compliance
Participating in an on-call roster, including occasional after-hours and overnight call-outs
We're looking for someone who...
Most importantly, you're a good people person who is comfortable taking ownership and working independently.
You may be someone who:
Has a natural ability to make people feel comfortable and at ease
Is compassionate, emotionally mature and genuinely caring
Communicates clearly and keeps others informed
Is confident working independently without direct supervision
Enjoys being part of a team, even when colleagues aren't based in the same location
Is proactive, resourceful and comfortable reaching out when support is needed
Takes initiative and can confidently manage changing priorities throughout the day

Enjoys connecting with the local community, visiting nursing homes and building relationships with local businesses
Is highly organised and takes pride in getting the details right
Is comfortable working with deceased persons and supporting grieving families
Holds a current unrestricted driver's licence
Is comfortable with the travel requirements, flexible working needs and an occasional weekend on-call roster
Funeral industry experience is welcome, but
not essential
. We're open to people from a range of backgrounds who have the right attitude, transferable skills and confidence to learn.
Although you'll work independently in Maclean, you won't be expected to figure everything out on your own. Your training will include time with the experienced team in Grafton, where you'll shadow colleagues and learn the processes, systems and practical requirements of the role.
Why you'll love it
Meaningful work: Make a genuine difference to families during some of life's most difficult moments.
Community connection: Build relationships with local families, nursing homes and businesses across the Maclean area.
Independence: Take ownership of your role and manage your day with confidence.
Training and support: Learn the funeral industry with guidance from an experienced team.
Teamwork: Be part of a supportive wider team based in Grafton.
Career development: Develop specialist skills and build a rewarding long-term career within an essential services industry.
Could this be you?
Perhaps you've spent years working in aged care or community services and enjoy building relationships with people in your local area.
Perhaps you've worked in hospitality, customer service or events and know how to stay organised, take initiative and look after people when emotions are high.
Or perhaps you're looking for a more meaningful career where you can work independently while still being part of a supportive team.
If you're compassionate, community-minded and confident working autonomously, and you'd find it a privilege to support grieving families, we'd love to hear from you.
