Builders Discount Warehouse – Brendale QLD
A full-time online sales advisor who answers every enquiry that reaches BDW online, and starts conversations with high-intent shoppers before they leave. You'll be the first dedicated team member in the current online sales and service desk, with the opportunity to help shape how it grows. This is a hands-on sales role where you'll connect with builders, renovators and homeowners, understand what they need, and help them feel confident about their next purchase.
Key responsibilities
Connect with customers through live chat during rostered hours, aiming to respond within a minute
Follow up overnight enquiries by phone or email before 9am
Guide customers with clear, helpful advice on products, specifications, dimensions, finishes, lead times and delivery
Provide freight quotes and delivery timeframes, and arrange delivery when the customer is ready to proceed
Work confidently within published pricing and approved promotions, with support from the lead for any exceptions
Reach out to shoppers who may benefit from support, including those with larger baskets, repeat visits or active kitchen and bathroom projects
Complete orders in Shopify or through the store whenever you can support the customer from start to finish
Prepare quotes for multi-item and project enquiries, and keep customers informed as they make their decision
Connect kitchen, bathroom and larger project customers with the right specialist team, providing a clear brief and staying involved until the handover is complete
Record the outcome of each conversation and capture questions that need further investigation to help improve the website and product information
About you
Two or more years selling or advising customers in building supplies, hardware, trade supply,



bathroom or kitchen retail — or a strong record in inside sales where product knowledge mattered
The ability to write quickly, clearly and warmly: most of this job is typed, and you will often hold three conversations at once
Comfort reading a price list, a spec sheet and a stock figure, and knowing when a number looks wrong
Genuine interest in starting a conversation with a stranger who has not asked you to
Composure when a customer is frustrated, and the judgement to know when to elevate rather than improvise
Discipline with the record: tagging every conversation, every time, without being reminded
Desirable: Experience on a live chat platform (LiveChat, Zendesk, Gorgias, Intercom or similar)
Desirable: Experience with Shopify or another ecommerce platform, and with an ERP such as Pronto
Desirable: Trade-facing experience: understanding how a builder or a cabinetmaker buys, and what a quote needs to contain
Desirable: Working knowledge of bathroom, kitchen or tapware ranges
