We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to help deliver a major government ICT transformation program. Working within a small team the Technical Lead will provide day-to-day technical leadership while remaining actively involved in software development – leading by example in modernising and enhancing a diverse portfolio of enterprise applications as they transition to a cloud-first Azure environment.

The role requires a strong engineering background, sound technical judgement and the ability to guide developers towards consistent, maintainable and pragmatic solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse existing applications and develop migration and modernisation approaches.

• Design,



develop and maintain full-stack applications using modern Microsoft technologies.

• Refactor legacy applications to improve security, maintainability and cloud readiness.

• Implement and enhance APIs, web applications and backend services.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, integration and deployment issues.

• Contribute to security uplift, remediation and technical debt reduction activities.

- Provide day-to-day technical direction, mentoring and support to developers, including pairing and constructive feedback.

- Establish consistent development practices and review pull requests for correctness, maintainability, security, and alignment with agreed designs.

- Facilitate technical discussions, collaboratively resolve differences and identify opportunities to simplify implementations.

- Work closely with Architects to translate endorsed architecture into practical implementation designs, identifying technical risks and gaps.

- Work with the Project Manager to scope, plan and coordinate technical deliverables, identifying dependencies, blockers and delivery risks early.

Skills and Experience

- Extensive experience developing applications in .NET and ASP.NET Core.

- Experience in Angular and/or React.

- Robust SQL Server development and troubleshooting skills.

- Experience in developing applications for Azure.

- Demonstrated experience leading technical delivery.

- Strong understanding of software design and modern development practices.

- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, pragmatic approach to problem-solving.

Desirable Skills

- Experience working with and applying secure by design/zero trust principles.
