Parts Interpreter Apprentice – Full Time

Atchison Trucks is a large family-owned business that specialises in heavy vehicle service, repairs and maintenance. We have been in operation for over 40 years and consist of a team of skilled and experienced employees.

Atchison Trucks are part of the Daimler dealer network and specialise in Mercedes Benz, Freightliner and Fuso trucks. We are located on the beautiful Central Coast, just off the M1 Motorway, which offers a great family lifestyle and is only 1 hour from Sydney and Newcastle.

Atchison Trucks are expanding and as a result of growth to our business, we are looking to employ a full-time Parts Interpreter Apprentice to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in the automotive and heavy vehicle industry while gaining practical experience, industry knowledge and a nationally recognised qualification.

About the Role

Working closely with our Parts Manager, workshop technicians and suppliers, you will receive on-the-job training and develop skills in:

- Learning to identify and interpret parts for service, repairs and breakdown work

- Using vehicle details, VINs, catalogues and electronic parts systems to identify correct parts

- Assisting with sourcing and ordering parts from suppliers

- Providing parts support to workshop technicians and apprentices

- Learning to process sales orders, back orders, stock transfers and credits

- Assisting with stock control, stocktakes and inventory management





- Raising purchase orders and maintaining accurate records

- Following up suppliers and expected delivery times

- Receiving, organising and allocating stock

- Maintaining an organised and efficient parts department

- Assisting with counter and telephone parts enquiries

- Completing the required training and assessments as part of your apprenticeship

About You

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and eager to learn and develop a long-term career within our team.

Ideally, you will have:

- A genuine interest in trucks, automotive parts or the mechanical industry

- A willingness to undertake and complete a Parts Interpreter apprenticeship

- Good computer skills and a willingness to learn new systems

- Solid attention to detail and accuracy

- Good communication and customer service skills

- Good organisational and time management skills

- The ability to work well with technicians, suppliers and customers

- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn

- The ability to work efficiently as part of a busy team

- Previous automotive or mechanical knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential

No previous Parts Interpreter experience is required, as full training and support will be provided.
