Make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal children and families

Are you passionate about supporting Aboriginal children, young people and families to be safe, strong and connected to culture and community?

Koya Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a compassionate, motivated and experienced Aboriginal Case Management Worker / Care Navigator to join our Earlier Intervention and Family Support team.

This is an opportunity to work within an Aboriginal-owned and led organisation where cultural knowledge, strong relationships and community connections are at the heart of everything we do.

About Koya

Established in 2004, Koya Aboriginal Corporation is a 100% Aboriginal-owned and led not-for-profit organisation committed to supporting Aboriginal and vulnerable children, young people, families and communities.

Through culturally grounded programs, community partnerships and grassroots approaches, we work to strengthen family wellbeing, cultural identity, resilience and opportunities for children, young people and families to thrive.

About the Role

Working in partnership with Parkerville Children and Youth Care, Koya delivers services through the Family Support Network (FSN) and Intensive Family Support Service (IFSS).

As a Case Management Worker / Care Navigator, you will work directly with children and families experiencing complex challenges, providing culturally safe, strengths-based and practical support.

Your focus will be on building trusting relationships, identifying family strengths and needs, supporting parenting, coordinating appropriate services and helping families overcome barriers to accessing support.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Building respectful, trusting relationships with children and families.

- Undertaking family assessments,

identifying needs and risks, and developing individualised support plans.

- Providing case management, practical assistance, outreach and in-home support.

- Supporting families experiencing challenges relating to parenting, housing, health, education, family and domestic violence and wellbeing.

- Identifying and responding to child safety concerns and contributing to effective safety planning.

- Helping families navigate services and access culturally appropriate supports.

- Working collaboratively with community organisations, government agencies and other service providers.

- Maintaining accurate case notes, assessments, records and reports.

Above all, you will help families build confidence, strengthen their capacity and create safer, more stable environments where children can remain connected to family, culture and community.

About You

We are looking for someone who is approachable, reliable, culturally grounded and genuinely committed to improving outcomes for Aboriginal children and families.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity.

- Experience in case management, family support, care coordination or a related community services role.

- Experience working with Aboriginal children and families.

- An understanding of the challenges experienced by vulnerable families and the importance of early intervention.

- Knowledge of child safety, family and domestic violence, risk assessment and trauma-informed practice.

- Strong communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills.

- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.

- Sound organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and meet reporting requirements.

- A relevant qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Youth Work or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience working within the Family Support Network, Intensive Family Support Service or an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation will be highly regarded.

Importantly, Koya recognises that cultural knowledge, lived experience, community standing and practical experience are valuable strengths. These will be considered alongside formal qualifications.

Applicants must hold a current WA Driver's Licence, Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.

Why Work With Koya?

At Koya, you will have the opportunity to:

- Make a genuine and lasting difference in the lives of Aboriginal children and families.

- Work within an Aboriginal-led organisation that values culture, community and self-determination.

- Be part of a supportive team committed to culturally secure, relationship-based practice.

- Work collaboratively across a range of established community programs and services.

- Contribute your cultural knowledge, skills and experience to improving outcomes for families.
