The Role

We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to lead the deployment, configuration, optimisation and ongoing support of PostgreSQL database clusters within a National Security customer environment.

This is a hands-on technical role covering the full database lifecycle, from initial implementation and migration through to ongoing operational support and sustainment.

You will be responsible for designing and maintaining highly available PostgreSQL environments, implementing backup and disaster recovery capabilities, monitoring and optimising database performance, and supporting patching,



upgrades and lifecycle management.

Working closely with DevOps engineers and technical specialists, you will also contribute to the automation of database deployment and operational processes within a secure, mission-critical workplace.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, configure, deploy and maintain enterprise PostgreSQL database clusters.
- Implement and support high availability, backup, recovery and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Monitor database health and performance and proactively optimise PostgreSQL environments.
- Support database migrations, patching, upgrades and ongoing lifecycle management.
- Troubleshoot database and platform issues and participate in incident management activities.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures, technical documentation and supporting artefacts.
- Work closely with DevOps engineers to automate database deployment and operational processes.
- Support PostgreSQL environments through implementation into long-term operational sustainment.
- Contribute to database reliability, optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
