Experienced Debt Recovery & Collections Officer

George Laurens is a long-established Australian debt recovery agency specialising in school fee and commercial debt recovery. Due to continued growth and the planned onboarding of a substantial new client portfolio, we are seeking an experienced Debt Recovery & Collections Officer to join our Bundall team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated collections professional who enjoys achieving positive outcomes, building rapport with customers and being part of a supportive, high-performing team.

Please note: This is a full‑time, office‑based position located in Bundall. Applicants seeking remote or hybrid work arrangements need not apply.

About the Role

This is a busy and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

You will be responsible for:

- Managing a portfolio of accounts requiring recovery action
- Conducting inbound and outbound collection calls
- Negotiating payment arrangements and resolving arrears
- Managing hardship requests and payment plan monitoring
- Preparing written correspondence and account notes
- Liaising with clients regarding account progress
- Investigating disputes and working towards practical resolutions
- Maintaining accurate records and meeting collection targets
- Delivering professional and empathetic customer service while achieving positive recovery outcomes

About You

You will have previous experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Debt collection




- Mercantile services
- Accounts receivable collections
- Credit control
- Hardship and arrears management
- Payment plan management
- School fee recovery
- Commercial debt recovery

You will also possess:

- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Confidence speaking with people from all walks of life
- Excellent telephone manner
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- A professional and resilient approach
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
