Leading Hand Carpenter - Commercial Fitout

Innovatus Projects is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Carpenter - Commercial Fitout to join our team on a 12month contract basis. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality commercial fitout projects on time and to specification. As Leading Hand Carpenter, you will take charge of carpentry teams, ensuring excellence in workmanship, adherence to safety standards, and effective project delivery. This is a hands-on supervisory position where you will balance technical expertise with team leadership to drive project success.

Key responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate subcontractor teams on the projects, ensuring all work meets quality standards and project timelines
- Perform skilled carpentry work not limited to; framework, installation of fixtures, joinery, and finishing on commercial spaces
- Interpret and implement architectural drawings and specifications accurately on-site
- Conduct toolbox meetings and provide ongoing guidance to ensure team members understand project requirements and safety protocols
- Monitor material usage, tool maintenance, and equipment to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Liaise with Project Team and subcontractors to coordinate workflow and resolve in office issues promptly
- Maintain detailed records of work completed, materials used, and labour hours in nominated systems
- Identify and report potential safety hazards, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety regulations
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with building codes, standards, and contractual requirements

What we’re looking for

- Current White Card (or equivalent) and valid NSW driver's licence
- Proven carpentry qualification (apprenticeship completion or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience as a carpenter, with substantial experience in commercial building projects




- Demonstrated experience supervising or leading small to medium-sized teams
- Strong knowledge of building codes, Australian Standards, and workplace health and safety requirements
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and technical drawings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate
- Physical fitness and capability to perform carpentry work and undertake site inspections
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Punctuality and reliability with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality outcomes. Present well and well spoken.
- Experience with various carpentry tools and equipment (both traditional and modern)
- Preferred: First Aid certification
