I’m hiring a Project Manager for an ASX-listed household name with a very large customer base. They’ve already proven the idea with a proof of concept that used AI agents to build software. Now they want to take it into production and make it the normal way their customer teams build software.

The first project is a rebuild of their main customer mobile app, done with AI agents, on a new stack that runs on both iOS and Android. It’s the first big project done this way, so there are a lot of eyes on it from the business and from tech, with a fixed go-live milestone in March.

You won’t be starting from a blank page. The project charter is signed off and this quarter’s deliverables are already sized, so there’s a proper handover, at pace.

There’s a delivery lead running the day to day scrum for a team of 6 to 8, plus architects and engineering leads. You’ll run the project around them: the governance, the money, the milestones and getting roadblocks raised early, from the roadmap all the way through to a production release.

What you’ll be doing

- Running steering committees and working groups, and telling senior leaders exactly where things stand and the decisions needed
- Owning the plan and milestones in a hybrid model: fixed funding and milestones with waterfall-style reporting on top, agile delivery inside each quarter
- Forecasting, collecting actuals and reporting on budget,



vendor spend and resourcing
- Managing risks, issues and dependencies, and raising problems early when scope, timing or quality are at risk
- Keeping engineering, product, testing, security, architecture, the business and outside vendors moving together
- Getting the go-live checklist, regression testing, architecture, responsible AI and security approvals in place before each release
- Helping shape how AI-written code moves through PR approvals, testing and the build pipeline, alongside teams still coding by hand
- Writing up the ways of working, guardrails and lessons into a playbook other squads can use

What we’re looking for
- You’ve run a customer-facing digital product from start to go-live at scale, ideally for a well-known consumer brand with a large customer base. A mobile app is a bonus, and a website rebuild or e-commerce platform counts just as much
- Real knowledge of how AI is changing the software lifecycle, using tools like Claude Code, ChatGPT, Copilot or Cursor. Work experience is great, and personal projects count
- Experience running delivery across several teams and outside vendors in a large organisation, including steering committees and release management
- Comfortable with a hybrid mode of fixed milestones and agile delivery
- Strong control of budgets, forecasts and actuals
- Clear, calm, proactive communication up and down, and you bring structure when things move fast

Any industry is fine, whether that’s retail, banking, telco, travel or e-commerce. You might be a career project manager, or a senior engineer who has moved into project management, as long as you’re happy to stay in the delivery lane. The technical direction sits with the head of the AI program and the engineering teams. There aren’t many enterprise programs in Australia putting AI agents into production software delivery yet, so this is a good one to have on your CV.
