Graduate Accountant

Job tasks and responsibilities

We have an exciting prospect for a Graduate Accountant to join the Corporate team at Emerald Resources NL. Based in our West Perth corporate office, this role will provide support across a broad range of financial accounting, management reporting and statutory reporting activities within a growing resources company.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate to develop their practical accounting experience and build their career within a listed mining company, working across a variety of financial and corporate functions.

About the Role

- Preparing and posting general ledger journals and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes;

- Maintaining fixed asset registers and capital work-in-progress projects;

- Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations and the preparation of monthly management reports;

- Preparing expenditure analysis reports and assisting with budget and forecast monitoring;

- Liaising with management to obtain financial information and prepare month-end reporting commentary;

- Supporting tenement expenditure reporting and analysis;

- Assisting with accounts payable, including reviewing and posting invoice batches;

- Assisting with the preparation of BAS, IAS and FBT returns, as well as income tax reporting;

- Supporting the preparation of quarterly, half-yearly and annual statutory financial reports in accordance with applicable accounting standards, ASIC requirements and ASX Listing Rules;

- Assisting with the preparation of financial statements for the Annual Report and other internal reporting requirements;





- Liaising with external auditors and advisors as required;

- Assisting with the maintenance of financial reporting controls and risk management processes; and

- Responding to ad hoc financial information requests and providing support across the finance function as required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline;

- A strong interest in financial accounting, management reporting and developing a career in accounting;

- Sound analytical skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail;

- Strong written and verbal communication skills;

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel;

- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines;

- The ability to work autonomously, demonstrate initiative and contribute positively within a team environment; and
- A willingness to learn, develop new skills and take on a broad range of accounting responsibilities.

Previous accounting experience will be advantageous but is not essential. This opportunity would suit a recent graduate looking to gain practical experience and develop their accounting career within a corporate environment.
