The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Senior and Lead ICT Security Engineers for upcoming opportunities supporting complex, mission-critical ICT environments within the Australian Government.

These roles will suit security professionals with strong experience across ICT security engineering, system accreditation and assurance, particularly those who have worked with Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and highly secure or regulated environments.

Opportunities are available across both senior practitioner and technical leadership levels.

You will work alongside ICT engineers, architects, cyber security specialists, project teams and senior stakeholders to ensure security requirements are effectively incorporated throughout the system lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities may include:

- Supporting or leading ICT security engineering activities across complex systems and projects
- Achieving and maintaining Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditation
- Developing and maintaining System Security Plans (SSPs), Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and other security accreditation artefacts
- Conducting security risk assessments, threat assessments and security compliance reviews
- Assessing security controls and identifying potential vulnerabilities and risks
- Developing practical security mitigation strategies and documenting residual risks
- Preparing technical documentation, security recommendations and executive briefs
- Working closely with ICT engineers, architects and cyber security specialists to achieve security outcomes
- Engaging and negotiating with technical and senior stakeholders throughout accreditation activities




- Translating complex technical security requirements into explicit advice for technical and non-technical audiences

About You We are interested in hearing from ICT Security Engineers who can demonstrate experience across several of the following areas:

- Security engineering within complex ICT environments
- Security controls, assurance and accreditation
- ATO / security accreditation processes
- Development of SSPs, CONOPS, risk assessments and accreditation documentation
- Security risk and threat assessments
- Technical security documentation and executive-level briefing material
- Working collaboratively with engineers, architects, project teams and security stakeholders
- Operating within highly secure, Defence, national security or similarly regulated ICT environments

Formal security qualifications or certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP or SABSA would be well regarded, along with IRAP Assessor Training or equivalent security accreditation experience. Experience across secure infrastructure, cloud security, system integration, security architecture or DevSecOps environments may also be advantageous.

Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT. Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions

Security Requirements: Candidates must hold an active or reactivatable Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Security Clearance on submission. Our client is not prepared to upgrade an existing clearance for this position. An OSA (Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
