About Us

Common Room Co. is a busy, established neighbourhood café in Caulfield North, known for quality food, specialty coffee and friendly service.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Junior Sous Chef to support our Head Chef in maintaining high kitchen standards, leading the team and ensuring smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and lead service when required.
- Maintain food quality, consistency, presentation and portion control.
- Train, mentor and provide clear direction to kitchen staff.
- Assist with ordering, stock control, food costing and waste reduction.
- Contribute to seasonal menu development and new dishes.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and kitchen organisation.
- Communicate effectively with FOH and management.

About You
- Minimum 3 years' kitchen experience, preferably as Chef de Partie or above.
- Strong cooking skills and experience in a busy café or restaurant.
- Organised, reliable and confident under pressure.
- Good communication, teamwork and leadership skills.




- Commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Positive attitude, accountability and willingness to learn.
