We’re working with the Melbourne office of a leading US white-shoe law firm on a newly formed Financial Markets team. They’re ideally looking for a 3-5 PQE banking and finance lawyer, with a particular focus on leveraged finance.

This is a high-end, strategically significant practice rather than a volume finance role. The work spans leveraged and acquisition finance, syndicated and bilateral facilities (secured and unsecured), and complex domestic and cross-border financings for leading lenders and sponsors. Clients include some of the largest US commercial and investment banks.

The Australian team launched in early 2024 and is already advising on some of the market’s most high-profile financing deals. It has quickly been recognised as one to watch by Legal 500. The firm genuinely operates as one integrated firm worldwide,



so associates work as part of a global financial markets team while helping build the Australian practice from the ground up.

The role offers real responsibility. You’d run day-to-day transaction execution, draft and negotiate finance documents, supervise junior lawyers, and work closely with experienced partners while building your own direct client relationships.

They’re looking for someone commercially minded, pragmatic and collaborative, with a robust academic record, a down-to-earth approach and experience at Australian top-tier or international firms. The Australian offices have more than doubled in size over the past five years, so there is genuine scope to grow with the practice.
