About Us

Iris Tutoring is a growing, family-run tutoring centre based in Perth, Western Australia. We provide educational support to primary and secondary school students, helping them build confidence, strengthen their academic skills and achieve their full potential.

We are looking for enthusiastic, knowledgeable and reliable English and Mathematics Tutors to join our growing team.

We welcome applicants who are confident teaching primary school students (Years 1–6), high school students (Years 7–10), or both.

Applicants should ideally be capable of teaching both English and Mathematics within their preferred year levels.

We particularly encourage applications from university students studying Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Engineering or other relevant disciplines who have strong academic backgrounds and previous tutoring experience.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Student Support

- Teach English and Mathematics to primary school and/or high school students, depending on your experience and capabilities.
- Explain academic concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods to suit different students.
- Assist students with reading comprehension, grammar, spelling, essay writing, creative writing and textual analysis.
- Support students with mathematical concepts, problem-solving and examination preparation.
- Identify student strengths, weaknesses and areas requiring additional support.
- Help students develop confidence, independence and effective study habits.
- Provide constructive feedback and monitor academic progress.
- Create a positive, supportive and engaging learning environment.

Lesson Delivery & Responsibilities




- Deliver structured and engaging tutoring sessions using learning resources provided by Iris Tutoring.
- Work with students individually or in small groups.
- Help students understand their mistakes and improve their academic skills.
- Maintain student engagement and ensure productive learning during lessons.
- Communicate student progress and any academic concerns to management.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability and punctuality.

Skills & Requirements

Essential:

- Strong knowledge of English and Mathematics at the year levels you are applying to teach.
- Ability to confidently explain concepts in both subjects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Patience, enthusiasm and the ability to engage students.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to students of different abilities.
- Reliability, professionalism and punctuality.
- Ability to manage and support students in small-group learning environments.
- A valid Working with Children Check, or eligibility to obtain one before commencing child-related work, in accordance with WA requirements.

Highly Desirable:

- Currently studying at university, particularly in Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience.
- Robust academic results in English and Mathematics.
- Familiarity with the Western Australian Curriculum.
- Experience supporting students with school assessments, NAPLAN, GATE or examination preparation.




- Experience teaching students with varying academic abilities.

Working Arrangements
- Part-time/casual position with after-school and weekend sessions.
- In-person tutoring at our Perth locations.
- Flexible shifts based on availability and student demand.
- Teaching resources and lesson materials will be provided.
- Students may be taught individually or in small groups.
- Support and guidance from Iris Tutoring management.
- Opportunities for additional teaching hours as the centre grows.

Applicants do not need to be able to teach every year level. We welcome tutors who specialise in primary school (Years 1–6), high school (Years 7–10), or both. However, confidence teaching both English and Mathematics within the nominated year levels is strongly preferred. University students with strong academic backgrounds, excellent communication skills and previous tutoring experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
