About us

True Living is a registered NDIS provider in Sydney supporting people with disability to live the life they choose, at home and in their community. We're a close-knit team that values respect, choice and genuine connection with the people we support.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team on a casual basis, providing clinical care and leadership across community and disability settings. You'll support participants in their homes and community, oversee high-intensity supports, and help build the skills and confidence of our support workers and Enrolled Nurses (EN).

This role suits an RN with solid clinical experience who enjoys working autonomously, values person-centred care and wants flexible shifts that fit around their life.

What you'll be doing

Clinical care and assessment

- Completing nursing assessments and developing, implementing and reviewing participants’ health care plans and high-intensity support plans, in partnership with the participant and/or their guardians
- Delivering and overseeing complex care, which may include PEG, catheter, stoma, diabetes, epilepsy, wound, bowel and dysphagia/mealtime management
- Administering and managing prescribed medications within your RN scope of practice and in line with True Living’s medication management policies
- Monitoring participants’ health, recognising deterioration and escalating promptly to GPs, specialists or emergency services
- Clinical leadership and training

- Training support workers in high-intensity daily personal activities and assessing and documenting their competency before they perform each task independently
- Providing clinical direction and supervision to ENs and support workers and delegating appropriately, consistent with the NMBA decision-making framework
- Contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement and audits under the NDIS Practice Standards
- Working with participants and stakeholders
- Supporting participants’ choice, control and supported decision-making in all aspects of their care
- Working in line with participants’ behaviour support plans and NSW restrictive practice authorisation requirements
- Liaising with GPs, allied health professionals, specialists, families, support coordinators and other stakeholders, with the participant’s consent
- Writing clear, objective, person-centred clinical notes and reports, and contributing to incident management and reporting

About you

Essential

- Current registration with AHPRA as a RN, with no conditions, notations or undertakings
- Post-registration clinical experience in acute, community, disability or a related setting
- Confident working autonomously in the community, with sound clinical judgement and knowing when to escalate
- Motivated, friendly and genuinely caring, with a person-centred approach

- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Current unrestricted Australian driver licence and access to a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module "Quality, Safety and You"
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Working with Children Check
- Australian working rights

What we offer

- Flexible casual shifts that work around your availability
- Meaningful, varied work supporting people in their own homes and community
- Support with your CPD hours to maintain your registration
- A supportive, friendly team that values your clinical expertise
- Kilometre reimbursement

How you’ll be supported While you'll work independently in the community, you won't be on your own. As part of our team you will:

- Complete a paid orientation and induction covering our policies, systems and participants’ care needs
- Work under our Clinical Nurse, with access to clinical advice and escalation pathways
- Report to our Operations Manager and Clinical Nurse for rostering and operational support
- Have regular check-ins and access to reflective practice to support your wellbeing
