Great opportunity for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to secure a key permanent position with our client in Sydney, to lead design, development and continuous improvement of their customer-facing digital ecosystem.

The work is interesting and varied, where you'll apply full-stack capabilities across contemporary web, mobile and backend services, working on high-impact eCommerce platforms, digital checkout flows and secure integrations, to deliver scalable and performant digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and maintain modern frontend web and mobile applications (React, Next.js) and secure, scalable backend services and APIs (Node.js, Express)
- Build, optimise and support end-to-end customer purchasing journeys, checkout flows and integrations with secure payment gateways and regulatory controls.
- Define application architecture patterns, reusable component libraries, design systems and type-safe API contracts across codebases.
- Optimise database queries, monitor end-to-end performance across frontend and backend layers and proactively resolve technical debt.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, release tooling and cloud hosting/edge configurations across Azure and Cloudflare.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship,



participate in code reviews, guide external vendor deliverables, and serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues.

Ideal skills & experience

- Minimum 7 years of commercial software engineering experience with strong full-stack capability across modern web applications, backend services and APIs.
- Demonstrated experience delivering eCommerce platforms or digital payment workflows within secure customer data environments.
- Advanced proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, React, Next.js and building accessible, mobile-first interfaces aligned with WCAG standards.
- Backend & Data Architecture: Node.js, Express, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, SQL data modelling, and query optimization.
- Practical exposure to Azure application services, CI/CD automation, build tooling and edge/caching platforms (e.g. Cloudflare)
- Strong communication skills with experience guiding requirements across cross-functional teams (IT, Marketing, Operations) and external partners.
