Network Security Engineer

Help build the networks powering AI at global scale.

A growing technology business is seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to join its Sydney team and help strengthen and automate its network infrastructure.

Working across complex data centre and wide-area networks, you’ll combine networking and security expertise with software engineering to improve how infrastructure is deployed, managed and protected. You’ll have scope to influence technical decisions, solve challenging engineering problems and build automation that improves reliability, security and scalability.

The opportunity

This is a senior, hands-on technical role with scope to influence architecture, engineering standards and the direction of network automation. You’ll solve complex engineering problems, write production code and work closely with network architecture, security and infrastructure leaders.

What you’ll do

- Design and develop network automation platforms covering configuration generation, deployment, validation and automated remediation.
- Build production services and APIs using Python or Go.
- Improve network telemetry, observability and analytics to support faster troubleshooting and safer operations.
- Establish engineering standards across testing, code review, CI/CD and reliability.




- Apply AI and machine learning to anomaly detection, troubleshooting and automated change review.
- Help ensure automated production changes are safe, controlled and recoverable.
- Mentor engineers and strengthen the team’s software development capability.

What you’ll bring

- Extensive experience in network development, software engineering or SRE within large data centre, cloud or hyperscale environments.
- Solid production software development skills in Python or Go .
- Deep knowledge of network automation, programmable interfaces, YANG models and streaming telemetry.
- Strong understanding of BGP, OSPF or IS-IS, MPLS, VXLAN and EVPN .
- Experience designing distributed systems, services and APIs.
- The ability to set technical direction, influence stakeholders and coach experienced engineers.

Experience with RoCE, InfiniBand, GPU infrastructure or high-performance computing networks will be highly regarded. Why consider it?
