About Living Farm

Living Farm is an agricultural research organisation based in York, WA, running field research programs a range of stakeholders. We manage hundreds of small plot trials a year across the wheatbelt, working in GLP, agricultural protection, NVT, breeding, agronomic projects, carbon projects and horticulture. Our team of around 30 people works closely with grower groups and industry to produce research that is practical and relevant to WA farming systems.

About the role

We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced professionals for the position of Senior Project Officer. The role manages research projects from contract through to final reporting. You will work alongside our agronomy and field teams to make sure trials are delivered on time, on budget and to protocol, and that results reach the people who need them.

Key responsibilities include

- Coordinating project delivery, including milestones, timelines and budgets for industry funded work
- Undertaking field trial activities including handbooming, assessments, data collection
- Working with field staff on trial planning, protocols, sampling and data collection
- Managing trial data, including quality checks, basic statistical analysis and presentation of results
- Building relationships with funders, research partners, grower groups and growers
- Helping extend results through field days, updates and industry events




- Mentoring and supporting project and field staff, and contributing to continuous improvement in how projects are delivered

About you You will have a proven track record of managing agricultural research or similar projects, and be comfortable juggling several projects at once in a busy seasonal environment. You will also bring:

- A degree in agricultural science, agronomy or a related field
- At least 3 years’ experience in project management, research or agronomy
- Robust written communication and reporting skills
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work outdoors in field conditions, including handbooming, trial assessments and other hands-on field tasks
- A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel regionally
- Experience with funding bodies (desirable)
- Knowledge of WA broadacre farming systems (highly regarded)
