ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is a global corporate and institutional bank that has recently established its Australian branch. This is a rare chance to join a finance function in its build phase, where you'll help shape processes, controls and reporting from the ground up rather than inheriting someone else's setup.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, with a matrix line into the Regional Head of Finance in APAC, this role owns APRA regulatory reporting for the branch while also covering financial control, tax compliance and management reporting. It's a broad, hands-on seat with plenty of visibility across the local leadership team and regional office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prepare and lodge monthly, quarterly and annual APRA regulatory returns, along with the quarterly and annual ABS surveys and any ad-hoc local regulatory reporting.
- Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, including journals, IFRS 9 provisioning, accruals and intercompany.
- Maintain balance sheet integrity through robust reconciliations, solid controls and timely issue resolution.
- Produce management reports and variance analysis, investigating P&L; and balance sheet movements.
- Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS and FBT returns, and assist with the corporate income tax return and tax effect accounting.
- Monitor GST, PAYG, withholding tax and payroll tax compliance,

liaising with external tax advisors and regulators as needed.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting, and track performance against budget.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors on audit data, variances and findings.
- Partner with local management and the regional APAC office to align processes, reporting requirements and group policies.

ABOUT YOU

- CA or CPA qualified, with a degree in Accounting.
- 8+ years' experience in accounting and finance, with a solid background in banking.
- Hands-on APRA regulatory reporting experience is essential.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and tax obligations, including GST, BAS, IAS, FBT and AIIR reporting.
- Comfortable in a lean, start-up style branch environment where you'll roll up your sleeves across a wide remit.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence with reporting and dashboard tools.
- Clear communicator who can work effectively with regional stakeholders across different time zones.

WHY APPLY

- Get in early with a newly established branch of a global bank and help build the finance function.
- Broad exposure across regulatory, statutory, tax and management reporting.
- Direct visibility with local leadership and the regional finance team.
