SHIFT SUPERVISOR – KERBSIDE EATERY, DARBY STREET

Lead the shift. Support the team. Set the standard.

Come and be part of the next chapter of Kerbside Eatery.

We’re looking for a positive, proactive and reliable Shift Supervisor to help lead our Darby Street team and deliver an exceptional experience for every customer.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys taking responsibility, thrives in a fast-paced setting and wants to develop their leadership skills within a growing hospitality business.

We’re looking for someone who leads by example, brings great energy to the team and understands that a successful shift comes down to outstanding people, clear communication and attention to detail.

You don’t just want to get through a shift. You want to make it a excellent one.

ABOUT KERBSIDE

Kerbside is growing, and we’re passionate about serving great food, creating memorable customer experiences and building a workplace where people genuinely enjoy coming to work.

We believe a great team starts with outstanding leadership at every level. Our Shift Supervisors play an important role in setting the tone, supporting our people and ensuring our stores run smoothly.

At Kerbside, we value people who take initiative, care about the details and are willing to step up when it matters.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Shift Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for helping lead the team during service and ensuring each shift runs efficiently, safely and to the high standards our customers expect.

You’ll work closely with the Store Manager and take an active role in supporting, directing and motivating the team throughout the day.

You’ll lead from the front, working alongside the team during busy periods while keeping an eye on the bigger picture — service, food quality, cleanliness, communication and team performance.

You’ll also have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills, build confidence in decision-making and take on greater responsibility as you grow with the business.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Shift Leadership & Team Support

- Lead the team during allocated shifts and help ensure daily operations run smoothly.
- Set a positive example through your attitude, work ethic and approach to customers.
- Allocate tasks and communicate clear expectations to team members.
- Support team members throughout service and help keep everyone working together.
- Assist with training and onboarding new team members.
- Provide constructive feedback and recognise great work.
- Help maintain a respectful, positive and accountable team culture.
- Support the Store Manager with team development and day-to-day leadership.

Customer Experience & Service

- Deliver friendly, efficient and welcoming customer service.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency and presentation.
- Lead by example during busy service periods and help the team manage customer flow.

- Respond to customer questions and resolve concerns professionally.
- Identify opportunities to improve the customer experience.
- Encourage a team mindset focused on making every customer feel valued.

Store Operations & Standards

- Ensure opening, closing and shift handover procedures are completed correctly.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation.
- Monitor stock availability during service and communicate replenishment needs.
- Assist with stock rotation, waste control and inventory processes.
- Ensure food safety, workplace health and safety procedures are followed.
- Keep equipment, workstations and service areas clean and organised.
- Follow established systems and procedures while identifying opportunities to improve them.
- Communicate operational issues to the Store Manager promptly.

Ownership & Continuous Improvement

- Take responsibility for the performance and atmosphere of your shift.
- Identify problems early and take practical steps to resolve them.
- Stay calm, organised and solutions-focused under pressure.
- Communicate clearly with the team and management.
- Take feedback on board and actively work to improve.
- Look for ways to make service smoother, the team stronger and the store better.

THE PERSON WE’RE LOOKING FOR We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about their work, their team and the experience we deliver to our customers.

You might already be a Shift Supervisor or Team Leader, or you could be an experienced hospitality team member who is ready to step into a leadership position.

You don’t need to know everything from day one. We’ll teach you our menu, systems and processes. What matters most is your attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.

Ideally, you will:

- Have experience in hospitality, quick-service restaurants, cafés or a similar fast-paced environment.
- Have previous supervisory experience or be ready to take the next step into leadership.
- Be hardworking, reliable and willing to lead from the front.
- Bring a positive attitude and good energy to every shift.
- Be confident communicating with team members and customers.
- Take initiative and look for what needs to be done.
- Be organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Stay calm and make sensible decisions during busy periods.
- Take pride in food quality, cleanliness and presentation.
- Understand the importance of food safety and following procedures.

- Be comfortable giving direction and supporting others.
- Take feedback positively and use it to improve.
- Be accountable for your actions and follow through on commitments.
- Enjoy working as part of a team and helping others succeed.

Most importantly, we want someone who cares enough to step up. Someone who notices when a team member needs help, sees when a station needs attention, recognises when service is falling behind and takes action instead of waiting to be asked.

We want someone who understands that leadership isn’t just about giving instructions. It’s about setting the example, supporting others and helping the whole team succeed.

STEP UP. MAKE AN IMPACT. GROW WITH KERBSIDE.

As a Shift Supervisor, you’ll have the opportunity to build your leadership experience and make a real contribution to the store.

You’ll be trusted to

- Lead shifts with confidence and professionalism.
- Help create a positive and enjoyable workplace.
- Support and develop team members.
- Maintain high standards across service, food quality and cleanliness.
- Make decisions within your responsibilities to keep operations running smoothly.
- Identify opportunities to improve how the team works.
- Build the skills and experience to progress into future leadership opportunities.

We want our supervisors to feel supported, valued and empowered to take responsibility. When you step up, show initiative and consistently deliver great shifts, we want you to have the opportunity to grow.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE A great Shift Supervisor makes a noticeable difference to the way a shift runs.

Success means

- The team knows what needs to be done and works together effectively.
- Service is smooth, efficient and customer-focused.
- Food quality and presentation remain consistent, even when it gets busy.
- The store stays clean, organised and well presented throughout the shift.
- Team members feel supported and know where to turn for help.
- Problems are addressed early and communicated appropriately.
- Opening, closing and handover procedures are completed properly.
- Food safety and operational standards are consistently followed.
- Customers receive a positive experience.
- The Store Manager can rely on you to take responsibility and follow through.

Ultimately, we want you to be someone the team trusts, the Store Manager can depend on and our customers remember for the right reasons. READY TO STEP UP?

If you’re passionate about hospitality, enjoy working with people and want to develop your leadership skills in a growing business, we’d love to hear from you.

Bring your work ethic, your positive attitude and your willingness to take ownership.

Let’s create great shifts, build great teams and make Kerbside a place people love coming back to.
