Join our team at the Great Stupa!

The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is one of regional Victoria's most unique tourist attractions, welcoming visitors from across Australia and around the world.

We are looking for two friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Retail & Customer Service Assistants to join our Gift Shop and Visitor Centre team for the busy summer holiday period.

These casual positions will run from November 2026 until the end of January 2027, with the possibility of ongoing casual work beyond this period.

About the roles

Your responsibilities will include

- Welcoming visitors and providing general information about the Great Stupa and its grounds.

- Assisting customers with Gift Shop purchases and enquiries.

- Operating the point-of-sale system and processing sales, donations and sponsorships.

- Restocking shelves, pricing products and maintaining attractive retail displays.

- Assisting with visitor arrivals, group visits and special events.

- Keeping the Gift Shop and Visitor Centre clean, tidy and welcoming.

- Working alongside staff and volunteers to provide excellent customer service.

About you

We are looking for people who:

- Have excellent communication and customer service skills.

- Are friendly, approachable, reliable and responsible.

- Enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds.





- Can work independently and as part of a team.

- Are willing to learn about the Excellent Stupa and its cultural significance.

- Are comfortable undertaking general retail duties.

Previous retail, hospitality or customer service experience would be an advantage, but is not essential. Training will be provided.

Availability requirements

Applicants must be available to work during the Christmas and summer school holiday period, including weekends and public holidays.

The Great Stupa is open seven days a week, including public holidays, and is closed only on Christmas Day.

Shifts will be rostered according to operational needs, with hours varying throughout the employment period.
