We are growing—and we are looking for an experienced consultant who wants more than a conventional advisory role: the opportunity to lead important work, influence real-world outcomes and help build a defining capability within Blackstart.

We expect to appoint at Senior Consultant or Manager level, with scope shaped around the right person. Exceptional candidates with Director-level experience are also encouraged to start a conversation.

The Opportunity

You will lead and deliver high-value client engagements across:

- Process safety and critical risk management

- Operational improvement

- Operational risk management

- Critical control management

- Major hazard management

- Operational assurance

- Risk governance and performance improvement

You will work alongside operational leaders, engineers and frontline teams—turning complex risk challenges into practical changes that people can use and leaders can sustain.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role with genuine ownership. You will facilitate critical conversations, shape solutions, guide delivery and see the impact of your work in the field.

What You’ll Bring

Your experience may have been built in:

- Power generation, Electricity transmission and Electricity distribution

- Mining

- Oil and gas

- Industrial operations





- Specialist consulting

More important than a perfect background is your ability to earn trust, solve problems and turn insight into practical improvement.

You will ideally bring:

- Engineering, risk, safety or related tertiary qualifications

- Experience in process safety, operational risk or major hazard management

- Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills

- Structured analytical and problem-solving capability

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- The ability to turn complex risk concepts into practical improvements

Experience with bowties, Critical Control Management and recognised process safety frameworks will be highly regarded.
