About the role

Bertil Service Centre is seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis at our Hawthorn East location. This is a crucial role within our automotive service operation, where you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining vehicles to the highest standards. As a Mechanic, you will play an essential part in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring our workshop operates smoothly and efficiently. Your expertise and attention to detail will directly contribute to maintaining Bertil Service Centre's reputation for quality workmanship and reliability.

Key responsibilities

- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge

- Perform routine maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, brake servicing and fluids

- Carry out Service & repairs to engines, transmissions, suspension systems, braking systems and other vehicle components

- Inspect vehicles and identify potential issues, providing customers with detailed reports and repair recommendations

- Utilise workshop equipment and tools safely and appropriately, maintaining high standards of workplace safety

- Complete accurate documentation of work performed, including job sheets and service records

- Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair timelines, costs and vehicle condition

- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored

What we're looking for

- Recognised automotive qualification such as a Certificate III or IV in Automotive Technology of 5 years +

- Proven experience as a qualified Mechanic in a workshop environment

- Strong knowledge of European vehicle repairs e.g VW, Audi, Volvo ETC

- Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and workshop technology





- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

- Robust communication skills and a customer-focused approach

- Ability to step up assist customers, bookings, quotes, invoicing etc

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Valid Victorian driver's licence

- light vehicle testers licence (desirable but not necessary)

- ARC/Air conditioning licence (bonus but not necessary)
