About Us

Sushi Train St Clair Station is a busy Japanese restaurant located in Adelaide, South Australia. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cook with strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine to join our kitchen team.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about food preparation, maintaining high kitchen standards, and working efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Preparing and cooking a variety of Japanese dishes including sushi, sashimi, rice dishes, noodles, fried foods, and hot meals
- Preparing ingredients including seafood, vegetables, sauces, and seasonings using Japanese cooking techniques
- Ensuring consistency, portion control, and presentation standards for all menu items
- Monitoring food quality during preparation and service periods
- Assisting with menu planning and development of seasonal Japanese dishes
- Managing stock rotation, storage, and inventory of fresh ingredients
- Maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards in accordance with kitchen procedures
- Operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Working closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service operations




- Assisting with supervision and training of junior kitchen staff where required

Skills and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification) plus at least 1 year of relevant work experience

OR

- Minimum 3 years of full-time relevant work experience as a Cook

In addition, applicants should have:

- Experience working in a Japanese restaurant or preparing traditional Japanese cuisine
- Knowledge of Japanese ingredients, food preparation techniques, and kitchen operations
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment
- Strong understanding of food hygiene and workplace safety standards
- Good communication and teamwork skills

Preferred

- Experience preparing authentic Japanese cuisine in a high-volume restaurant environment
- Experience with sushi preparation and Japanese kitchen operations will be highly regarded

Pay: $76,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
